The Botanic Ship, IJburg

The islands of Ijburg were being created from the sand reserves under the Lake in which they will be located. The proposed urban plan envisages a densely built ground floor zone with a new horizon being formed on the first storey, 3,4m above ground level. A new ground level of earth is created on this new horizon. The house is embedded, a ship-like form, in this new ground. The perception of dwelling is expressed as anchoring oneself in the place.
